The SAL 2014 Workshop took place on August 30, 2014. We are pleased to announce that in 2015 we are soliciting submission for:
Journal of Information Science Special Issue on Recent Advances on Searching as Learning - 2015
The Call for Papers is published here: JIS_Call.htm
SAL 2014 Workshop Description: Search systems to date have been viewed more as tools for the retrieval of content to satisfy information needs, than as environments in which humans interact with information content in order to learn. However, as full-text, information rich search systems become the norm, there is growing recognition of the importance of learning as a search outcome and of the need to provide support for it.
This workshop aims to flesh out research directions and methodologies, survey state-of-the-art approaches, and build community around this important emerging research area. We are particularly interested in engaging researchers across the information retrieval, information behaviour, and human computer interaction fields.
Workshop TopicsThe Searching as Learning Workshop is being held on the final day of the Information Interaction in Context (IIiX 2014) Conference, in Regensburg, Germany. More information is available on the conference website:http://iiix2014.ur.de/
